FAQS

What are Prebiotics?

Prebiotics are non-digestible fibers found in specific foods serving a crucial role by providing a source of nourishment for beneficial bacteria in the gut. By promoting the growth and activity of these bacteria, prebiotics contribute to maintaining a healthy balance of gut microbiota. This balance is essential for proper digestion, nutrient absorption, immune function, and overall health. The special type of fiber in prebiotics, often derived from ingredients like chicory root, agave, or other plant based sources, remains intact through the soda making process. When consumed, these fibers reach the gut where they are fermented by probiotic bacteria. This fermentation process produces short-chain fatty acids that contribute to essential gut health. Other foods rich in prebiotics include garlic, onions, bananas, asparagus, and whole grains.

What do we mean when we say "Gut Health is Wealth"

Gut health is critically important because it plays a central role in various aspects of our overall health and well being like; digestion and nutrient absorption, immune function, mental health, inflammation and chronic disease, weight management, skin health, and the list goes on. Taking care of your gut can have far-reaching benefits for your overall health and quality of life. Improving gut health involves adopting habits and making dietary choices that support the growth and balance of beneficial gut bacteria. A few effective ways to promote gut health are; eat a diverse range of foods, include fiber-rich foods, limit artificial sweeteners, reduce sugar and processed foods, get sufficient sleep, and don't overuse antibiotics.

Our Ingredients: Less Is More

Moneta was crafted with simplicity in mind, containing only 5 wholesome ingredients and a mere 7 grams of sugar. Packed with 7 grams of prebiotic fiber Moneta provides over 20% of your recommended daily fiber intake in just one can.

1. Chicory Root - chicory root inulin is Moneta's primary source of prebiotic. It refers to a type of dietary fiber extracted from the root of the chicory plant (Cichorium intybus). It consists of long chains of fructose molecules linked together in a way that makes it indigestible by human enzymes.

2. Agave Nectar - Since Moneta contains no sugar, agave serves as the primary source of sweetener. It is an all natural sweetener derived from the sap of the agave plant, primarily from species such as Agave tequilana (the same plant used to make tequila). One of the key benefits of agave is that youcan typically use less agave syrup compared to other sweeteners like table sugar (sucrose) to achieve the same level of sweetness. This is because agave syrup is significantly sweeter than sucrose, so smaller amounts are needed to achieve the desired sweetness in recipes or beverages.

3. Natural Extracts - Moneta Meyer Lemon contains lemon extract. Moneta Strawberry Vanilla contains strawberry and vanilla extract.

4. Carbonated Water - Also known as sparkling water, fizzy water, soda water, or seltzer water, is water that has been infused with carbon dioxide (CO2) gas under pressure. This process creates bubbles and gives the water its characteristic effervescence or fizziness.5. Citric Acid - citric acid is a naturally occurring organic acid found in citrus fruits such as lemons, oranges, limes, and grapefruits. It is widely used as an additive in the food and beverage industry for its acidic and flavor-enhancing properties.
